Joy to the World - in the chaos of Christmas

Matt Levett

Whether it’s a robed church choir or the dulcet tones of Whitney Houston, just one verse of ‘Joy to the world’ and even Scrooge will feel it’s beginning to feel lot like Christmas. Isaac Watts never wrote it as a Christmas song, yet it fits the season perfectly.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing…

But have you ever stopped to think why ‘heaven and nature’ chooses to sing joy to a lost and broken world?
