Who wouldn’t take the wise counsel of a trusted advisor? Imagine Tiger Woods spending a week advising you on your golf swing; or Richard Branson guiding you through some business decisions; or Mother Teresa counseling you in how to find genuine contentment in life.
‘Wonderful Counsellor’ is one of the four names Isaiah uses to describe the character of Jesus. But because we hear this every Christmas it may have lost some of its meaning. The original language this verse was written in actually describes an adviser, guide or counsellor that is amazing beyond understanding or description.
Just imagine the Son of God himself being your voice of wisdom whatever your next step is in life.
