Big Buts of the Bible - Promises

Big buts … this isn’t a fancy Christian weight loss plan. It’s a new way to live.
This simple word ‘but’ is such a small word. However, when Jesus used it, that little word changed everything. In his first major public address he speaks to a large crowd on a mountainside and says,
‘You’ve always heard… culture has always told you… BUT now I’m telling you how it really is…’
People often make promises in God’s name. BUT Jesus is asking us to go beyond that and only speak God’s name when we are talking to him or about him.
That’s one BIG but…
